Tucked away on 37, Lebuh Campbell, this cozy eatery has become a go-to spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a delicious taste of authentic Malaysian noodle dishes.

When you first step into the restaurant, you're welcomed by a warm and vibrant atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. The menu here is a celebration of classic noodle dishes, with a particular focus on the bamboo noodle, a staple that stands out for its unique texture and the way it's prepared. The noodles are hand-pulled, which is no small feat and adds a satisfying chewiness that perfectly complements the flavorful broths.

One of the signature dishes at Tok Tok Mee is their bamboo noodles served with various toppings. You can opt for the traditional, served with a fragrant soup base that’s just the right balance of salty, savory, and subtly sweet. The soup is made from scratch, simmering for hours to extract the deepest flavors. It’s served with thin bamboo noodles, which have a silky, slightly firm texture, providing the perfect base for the broth. Whether you prefer a simple bowl or a more elaborate dish with chicken, beef, or vegetables, each option is meticulously prepared to satisfy every palate.

For those who like a bit of spice, the sambal served alongside the noodles is a must-try. It adds a fiery kick that pairs beautifully with the noodles, enhancing the overall flavor. Many diners often rave about how the sambal strikes the perfect balance-not too overwhelming but enough to give the dish a lively, spicy depth. If you’re someone who enjoys an added burst of heat, it’s a great complement to the noodles.

The restaurant also offers a variety of sides that pair perfectly with their noodles. You might want to try the crispy spring rolls or the savory dumplings, which are made fresh daily. These small dishes are perfect for sharing and give a great variety to your meal. They’re all prepared with the same attention to detail as the main dishes, ensuring that every bite is as flavorful as the next.

Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle prides itself on using fresh ingredients sourced locally, ensuring that every dish is not only delicious but also supports local farmers and producers. The attention to detail extends to the ambiance as well, where the staff is friendly and attentive, making sure your dining experience is as enjoyable as the meal itself.

What makes Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle stand out is their dedication to authentic, traditional recipes. The chefs at this restaurant have mastered the art of preparing bamboo noodles, and it’s clear in every bowl they serve. If you're new to bamboo noodles or haven’t yet had the chance to try them, this is the place to go. It’s not just about eating; it’s about experiencing the cultural richness of Penang’s food scene in a relaxed, inviting environment.

Another standout feature of the restaurant is its location. Situated in George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, it’s surrounded by a mix of historical and modern influences. • Koay Teow Loud Mee had a nice springy texture, and the roasted char siu was delicious and well-roasted. The pastry was soft, fragrant, and crispy. Portions were slightly on the small side. A nice highlight is the glass box where customers can watch the noodles being made traditionally, using bamboo to flatten the dough. Overall, a tasty and interesting dining experience.

  • The taste was nice, but the soup version needed some soy sauce for more flavor (I suggest adding white pepper option too). The price for a large dry is RM10, and the medium soup is around RM9. Overall, it’s good and not too expensive. The service was very fast; the food arrived almost immediately after ordering.

  • If you're a fan of traditional wanton noodles, you absolutely must give this place a try. They're known for their perfectly springy noodles that are incredibly chewy, adding a pleasant chewiness to the overall eating experience. The way the kitchen expertly blends the various components – the sauce, the meats, the dumplings – into the dish is truly impressive and adds a delightful magic to every bite. However, keep in mind that this popular spot can get quite crowded, so be prepared to wait your turn. Good food, good price, good portion.

  • Worth a visit. Went for lunch, seems full house but turnaround quite fast, just need to wait a while. Staffs all are friendly, especially the elder ones. The taste of the roasted crispy pork, noodle and wanton remind me of old times, which will definitely a good one. Pastry is nice too. The crispy pastry taste light and not thick. They serve after heat up. I like the taste and their service. Would recommend my family and friends to go if they are going Penang Island.

  • Rare to find a place that does the noodle from scratch and using bamboo. This place still does it the old school way, kneading the noodle via bamboo and I do feel that this gives a better quality to the noodle produced. The noodles here are prepared fresh daily it seems, and I notice that there is little alkaline (kee smell) to the noodles while eating. Noodles were cooked well and none of them clumped together as they ensured the noodles were separate well before placing them into the boiling water. Pair with their home made chili, this is by far the best wonton noodle that I've had and I would definitely return again for more. Really love the roast pork here. The asmr crunch sound when biting into the crispy skin is proof of how good it is. The seasoning for the roast pork is perfect and not overly salty.

  • We arrived there around 10am. Only a few customers. Street parking was not an issue. As we've not been there for a long time we decided to stick to their signature Tok Tok mee, one bowl soup & the other dry. Both came with meat dumpling, char siu, and veggie. The noodles were cooked very nice & springy. The dumplings were big. Chilly sauce was (surprisingly) very good. Normally it is pickled chilly! We enjoyed our breakfast & would visit again to try other dishes. Prices were very reasonable. We packed some buns, cookies & egg tarts at the display showcase on our way out. We're spoilt for choice by the many varieties. Thank you, we'll visit again!

  • Great food in a nice food district of George Town where you can find many well-reviewed restaurants including this one. We had the special noodles soup with meat, dumplings and a tasty pepper. Also the BBQ and fried pork and that was quite tasty as well. All for 20 RM per person including iced teas.

  • Definitely the highlight of our trip so far, amazing dishes left right centre, well worthy of the Michelin Guide! the egg tart that started us off was amazing - light and fluffy to the bite, cut in half to make it edible in a bite, with a cohesive custard and tart combination! So much so we got another 4 to share after our meal! the dry fried hor fun was my favourite, the wokhey hits hard and it was so flavourful that no words can describe it - probably the best hor fun I have had ever the wanton noodles were decent, QQ noodles and wanton were generous as well the fried rice was well loved by us all too, might just have to takeaway some on our last day home! drinks were average, but wasn’t the highlight in any case Definitely will return if we are back in Penang!
